Since 1986, attorney Daniel J. Konieczka, Jr. has focused his career on representing parties involved in Pennsylvania’s criminal justice system. He knows that the depth and breadth of his experience provide him with the ability to make the best arguments for his clients in an effort to eliminate or minimize any potential legal consequences.
For the first 23 years of his career, attorney Konieczka worked as a prosecutor with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. While with the DA, he worked mainly in the areas of felony narcotics, firearms and violent crimes such as homicide, robbery, rape and assault. He served for some time as the head of the Violent Crime and Firearm Unit as well as the Felony Narcotics Unit where he provided legal advice to Detectives and District Attorney Investigators on felony drug crimes, violent offenses and gang activity. He was also in charge of the first-time DUI offender program when the new statute passed in 2004, which led to him training prosecutors and police officers across the state in the statute. One of attorney Konieczka’s most memorable moments during his tenure as a prosecutor was when he was sworn in as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and assisted in getting one of the first RICO prosecutions of a gang in the U.S.
Now, as a criminal defense lawyer, Daniel Konieczka focuses on providing thorough, straightforward advice to his clients. He puts his prosecutorial experience to work in analyzing each case and identifying what he needs to do to counteract what the prosecution may bring to the table. His greatest asset is his ability to provide sound advice to clients based on real experience gained from working both sides of the courtroom.
On a more personal note, Daniel J. Konieczka, Jr. is proud of being a born-and-bred Pennsylvanian. He was raised in the Morningside neighborhood and graduated from Central Catholic High School. The legal business has been in his blood from an early age, as his father was a Pittsburgh police officer.
When Daniel isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and also getting in several games of ice hockey and inline hockey. There’s something innately special about the game of hockey to him, as he has suffered numerous injuries and gone through several surgeries, but continues to come back for more.
